CHAPTER 01 · THE ENCOUNTER
First came the wonder.
In the 1980s, Elenice was already familiar with the southern Bahia coast. On one of those journeys, she heard about a boat to Caraíva. The village moved to a different rhythm, surrounded by nature, silence and moonlit skies.
What was meant to be a brief visit lasted longer. A discovery grew into the desire to stay. The first plot of land was intended for a holiday home, before becoming the beginning of Pousada Terra.

CHAPTER 02 · 1989
A home that began welcoming others.
In 1989, Terra began to take shape. Its construction coincided with an important chapter of Elenice’s life: she remembers building the inn while pregnant with her daughter Luana.
Over the years, a holiday home became a place of encounters. New pathways, rooms, shade and people followed. The story of the inn grew alongside that of her family.
IN ELENICE’S WORDS
One life, many stories. One place called Terra.
In the garden she helped plant, Elenice recalls discovering Caraíva, the beginnings of the inn, Luana’s arrival and the path that brought her here.
A personal account of choosing to stay in Caraíva, the earliest buildings, family life and the nature that has grown around the inn. The interview is in its original language; this summary is available in all three languages.
Original video in Portuguese with audio. Length: 2 minutes and 13 seconds.
CHAPTER 03 · THE GARDEN
Nature has a story of its own.
Elenice found a landscape shaped by coastal restinga vegetation. She started planting and caring for what is now essential to Terra: trees, pathways, flowers and places to simply be.
Coconut trees, acerola, limes, bananas and even pineapples are part of the memories she shares. Each new growth brought shade, freshness and another way to experience this place.
