An experience rooted in listening, learning and respect.

A COMMUNITY-LED EXPERIENCE

Encounter a living culture.

During an experience organised by the Pataxó community of Porto do Boi, visitors are invited to listen to stories and learn about traditional knowledge, body and face painting, songs and dances.

Depending on the programme, the experience may include herbal baths, spiritual practices such as rapé and gatherings around the fire. Participation is optional and follows the guidance of the community hosts.

Food may also be part of the visit, with fish and side dishes shared in a communal meal. The traditional way of serving and eating with the hands, as well as whether lunch is included, should be confirmed directly with the community.

Planning your visit

Visits are generally arranged with local guides and operators, by boat or overland transport depending on the itinerary. Contact the community in advance to confirm visiting arrangements, prices, schedules, transport and participation conditions.
